James R. Hanby, Sr. and his family have a long history with and commitment to the Brandywine School District and the State of Delaware. Furthering his commitment to the students, teachers, and families of the Brandywine School District, James founded the Brandywine Education Foundation in 2013. His goals were to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from the Brandywine high schools: Brandywine, Concord and Mount Pleasant. He also wanted to make sure that teachers in the Brandywine School District had funds for innovative programs that might not otherwise be funded through the regular school budget or PTA support. The foundation continues to carry on James’ commitment and vision. Through the generosity of our donors and community partners, the Brandywine Education Foundation continues to work to support the students, staff, and families of the Brandywine School District.
Supporting the academic success of our students is an investment in our community. The Brandywine Education Foundation is an independent foundation that provides scholarships to graduating seniors in the Brandywine School District. In addition, we provide funding for innovative programs that support academics, parental involvement, and recognize outstanding educators.
The Brandywine Education Foundation is an independent foundation that serves two main purposes:
1. To provide scholarships to graduating seniors of the Brandywine School District.
2. To provide mini-grants to teachers for innovative programs that would otherwise not be funded by the Brandywine School District
